04.02.2023
48 teams.
$25,000.
One winner.
Prometheus’s own national-level competition.
-
Any middle and high school team can qualify for Olympus, provided they meet the eligibility requirements outlined in our rules. Most qualifiers will be selected from Ignis tournaments, but some teams may receive an invitation based on strong performances at other tournaments, especially those that were unable to compete in Ignis.
-
A uniform benchmark will be set across every Ignis competition for teams to meet. Teams above this benchmark will automatically be invited to Olympus. Teams below this benchmark may be invited based on impressive performance during the tournament or exceptional results from outside tournaments, including the National Science Bowl® and other independent invitationals.
-
No. Teams can change their rosters between Ignis and Olympus as long as each team member is eligible to compete (i.e. is a student at the invited high school).
-
Prizes range from $250 to $5,000 per team based on the team’s placement during the tournament. Of the 48 teams competing in Olympus, the top 32 will receive cash prizes and the top 16 will receive trophies. The full prize distribution is available here.
-
The tournament will follow a similar format to Prometheus 2022. The tournament will begin with a round-robin in small pools of teams, which will be used to seed teams in a larger double-elimination bracket. Team placement and prizes will be determined based on when they are eliminated in the final bracket.
