Become a Writer/Playtester
Writers are the backbone of Prometheus, creating the sets we use at competitions. Writers should have extensive science bowl or other science experience; most of our current writers are at the top of their field and were national-level competitors in high school. We strongly discourage current high schoolers from writing unless they would be disqualified from competing as part of another staff role.
Playtesters play each category in a science bowl format to find any issues from the writing process. Playtesters are generally held to similar standards as writers and should be alumni with extensive science bowl experience. If you can’t commit to writing, we encourage you to playtest - it’s a smaller commitment over a shorter time period.
On average, each writer contributes around 50 questions to each set we write. Once finished, each category is edited as a whole by a team of 2-4 writers and playtested as a whole to catch any category-wide issues. Playtesting typically takes about 2-4 hours per category depending on the amount and quality of questions.
