Entries are due by Sunday, July 17th, 2022. If you have some constraint that makes this impossible, please contact us as soon as possible.

Everyone who wishes to submit a proposal may do so – there are no restrictions on who may or may not compete.
-
Yes! If you think you have ideas to contribute and are interested in ELK, we highly recommend that you compete. If you find the challenge too daunting then there is no commitment, but we believe anyone interested should continue researching the topic.
-
There’s nothing required to do before researching – all of the information is at your fingertips. However, we ask that you register here so we can assess the amount of interest in ELK.
-
ELK is an extremely difficult problem and may require far more thought and research than most projects. If you’re stuck, see the “Strategy” section of our guidance page for tips on how to keep working.
-
There is no hard cut answer to this question and it often depends on the specifics of your proposal, but we expect most submissions to be about 1-3 pages long.
-
Prometheus Science is jointly funded by the Open Philanthropy Project and the FTX Future Fund – the Future Fund is the major funder of our ELK competition.
-
While we have ballpark estimates, we do not know the amount of submissions we will receive or the quality of those submissions. Prometheus will guarantee awarding at least $25,000 in prizes, but we will award as many prizes as we believe exceed our criteria.
-
You can win an award for your proposal in one of two ways, listed on our prizes page.
You may create a novel approach to tackle ELK that addresses all of the existing counterexamples to previous ideas.
You may extend and/or modify an existing proposal to address the counterexample provided.
-
The majority of prizes will be distributed to participants via mailed check – if this method is not applicable to you, we will contact you to find a solution.
